LeCont at the famous Pikes Peak International Hill Climb 2014

Here we are: after years of first experiences with its 10" tyres, but also of close technical collaboration with a major manufacturer of racing tyres for motoring, LeCont makes its debut with its own brand in the world of 13" competition tyres for high performance prototypes.

It does so in great style, as is due to one of the most prestigious brands of tyres for karting and for the production of high-tech compounds.

To debut with its own brand in this sector, LeCont has chosen one of the most famous and historic car races in the world, considering all the disciplines of motoring. In fact, he will participate in the most prestigious of all uphill races in the world: the 92nd Pikes Peak International Hill Climb 2014, which will take place on June 29 in Colorado (USA) in the Rocky Mountains, near Colorado Springs.

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb 2014 is now part of US sporting culture and motoring history. For blazon and fame, it is part of the very exclusive club of the 15 most prestigious and popular races in the world, led by sacred monsters such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans Karting, the Indianapolis 500, the Monaco F1 GP, the Daytona 500 Nascar and the Monte Carlo Rally.

What is nicknamed "the race to the clouds", takes place on a unique and extremely demanding track, just under 20 km long but with a hallucinating difference in height: 1467.7 meters (from 2834,6 meters of altitude at the start of the race, the competitors climb at full throttle until they reach 4302,3 meters of altitude at the finish). Throughout its history, great champions have triumphed here, such as Ari Vatanen, Walter Röhrl, Al Unser, Bob Unser, Nobuhiro Tajima and last year Sébastien Loeb, who set a new record for the course.

In the 2014 edition of this race, LeCont tyres will equip the Norma M20 "RD Limited" prototype with Honda HPD K20 turbo engine entered with the #30 and driven by a true racing star, Romain Dumas, a very popular driver across the Alps. The thirty-six-year-old French nobleman, who is currently competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans Karting (which he won in 2010) as an official Porsche driver, is enrolled in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb 2014 in the "unlimited" category and does not hide his great ambitions for this race, which in 2014 will take part for the third time.

For this purpose, after several private test sessions held in recent weeks in some tracks in the south of France, Dumas has chosen LeCont tyres, specially developed and fine-tuned for the occasion by the technicians of the Trentino company.
