Successful season launch for LeCont

21/01/2024

The early date of the new 2024 international season calendar, the winter and the cold weather did not put off the large number of drivers taking part in the WSK Champions Cup in Lonato from 19th to 21st January. The manufacturer LeCont was delighted to meet their expectations and requirements by supplying tyres that were as high performing as they were consistent for the competitors in the OK category.

With great satisfaction and a fierce determination to do well, in 2024 LeCont welcomes the renewal of its partnership with WSK Promotion which for nearly 20 years has been offering benchmark events for drivers, teams and factories, all keen to take part in high-level international events.

The eagerly-awaited WSK Champions Cup delivered some superb racing and quality entertainment, heralding a lively season. The drivers had to contend with occasionally changeable weather on Friday for the first official day of the competition, but dry weather with plenty of sunshine eventually won out at South Garda Karting.

From a sporting point of view, the OK category did not lack interest, with a changing hierarchy: Jindrich Pesl took pole position in 46"528 and won two heats, but Salim Hanna, Ean Eyckmans, Oleksandr Bondarev and Zac Drummond were also able to win in the heats or Prefinal. In the end, victory went to Ukraine's Oleksandr Bondarev ahead of Israel's Guy Albag, who came back strongly, and Colombia's Salim Hanna. In the Final, Belgian Ean Eyckmans set the fastest time of the meeting in 46"520 at an average speed of almost 93 km/h.

The service provided by LeCont and the efficiency of the tyres enabled the teams to work in excellent conditions. Most of the drivers ran very close times, with gaps of no more than a few tenths and sometimes even hundredths! LeCont is already ready to take on other challenges in 2024, starting with the WSK Super Master Series which kicks off from 26th to 28th January in Lonato.
