The 24 Hours has begun, with Piccini

24 Hours of Le Mans Karting 2014 edition began today with free practice from 3 PM to 7:30 PM and resumed at night, from 9 PM to 10:30 PM.
Pre-race testing, night testing and final adjustments in order to optimize any kind of detail for the event of the year in the karting Endurance World.
The 35 teams who entered the race are mainly divided into two groups (GP1 for KF2 engines and GP2 for Rotax engines karts and in the GP4 class only one single crew driving a kart equipped with a 4 strokes Swiss Auto "high performance" engine).
On the tyres side, everybody is equipped by LeCont, who is the sole tyres supplier of the French classic race from 2011 and until 2016 (at least).
140 drivers will participate to the race, including some prestigious names. The biggest piece of cake goes to the local stars, with a special mention for the recent Las Vegas GP Winner, Anthony Abbasse, and his fast teammate, Charles Fiault. We have also to notice the come-back in a kart race of Anthoine Hubert, who races in the F4 French Championship, as well as the presence of Wilfrid Lecarpentier, a multi-Winner of Le Mans karting 24 Hours.
However, we are certain that Saturday 3 PM, at the start of this 29th edition of the Le Mans karting 24 Hours, the public will also encourage and applaud an Italian driver, whose presence certainly gives extra prestige to this splendid event.
Among the drivers of team #100, with a Tony Kart-Vortex and in the blue and yellow livery colours of the French magazine Kartmag, the name of a fifty-year old "young man" (whose track record can obscure almost anyone) is flashing Alessandro Piccini. Four-time World Champion, three-time European Champion, twelve times individual Italian Champion (plus a team national title) and even twice, French Champion!
For him years pass but the passion for racing and speed is still the same, like the courage to tackle a race among the most difficult physically, as well as mentally. Chapeau!
